Facilities It has it's own bar and kitchen facilities and becomes a social buzz after a game of bowls. One of the two greens is under floodlights and evening games are played on Tuesdays and Fridays. This is an opportunity for new and existing bowlers to enjoy evening games after work. Activities Regular social games are arranged on normal days of play. On national level we participate in The SA Eagles Men & Women Nationals. Within the district we participate in the Bowls Gauteng North annual ladies’ and men’s league, Men’s Black & White tournament and Women’s Spar Classic. We compete in interclub competitions against Bryanston Country Club, Country Club Johannesburg and Irene Country Club on an annual basis. Local annual interclub events include the Lorna Ellis Nomination Rinks and Good Companion’s Day. Club events include annual club championships in various categories, Biltong Trip Days, Teaspoon Trip Days, Captain versus Captain, Silver versus Gold and Bring & Braai Days on public holidays. CoachingEveryone new to the game of bowls is required to undergo training with one of our bowls coaches before playing social games. Bridge About Bridge Contract Bridge was invented in the 1920’s, and in the following decades became very popular. Bridge currently occupies a position of great prestige, and is more comprehensibly organized than any other card game. There are clubs, tournaments and championships throughout the world. Rubber Bridge This is the basic form of contract bridge, played by four players. Informal, social bridge games are often played this way, and Rubber Bridge is played in clubs for money. Duplicate Bridge This is the game normally played in clubs, tournaments and matches. The game is basically the same but having the same deals replayed with different sets of players reduces the luck element. At least eight players are required for this. There are some significant differences in the scoring. PCC Bridge: Ladies’ and Men’s section Ladies and men play in different sections. Play takes place in the bridge room. The men draw for partners and play Rubber Bridge. The Bridge section currently has a membership of 40 and all members of the PCC are welcome. The Bridge section would like to welcome and encourage all to try their hand at Bridge. Squash Celebrities, champion players, champion teams, the best coaches, the boffins on the rules of squash, the best young players, the most promising juniors, and some of the finest facilities in South Africa. Court bookings can be made by telephone or by personally entering one's membership number and pin to make a computer booking. Bookings are computerised. Members' accounts are debited automatically when bookings are taken up. Please note that the squash membership account is a debit account and therefore money has to be deposited in the member's squash account before the membership will be active. This can be done at PCC reception, or with one of the squash attendants. Furthermore, the membership is personal and non-transferable. No one may use another member's membership account. PCC has 6 excellent multicolour squash courts, a formal lounge and the Rackets Bar which is open on Mondays when the Club is closed for all other sections. Tennis The six high-quality all-weather tennis courts at the Pretoria Country Club are situated next to the Club's beautiful lake and are surrounded by lawns, flower beds and trees. A more beautiful setting is hard to imagine. Bird life and a few rabbits add to the charm of the environment. Two floodlit courts provide the opportunity to play tennis after sunset. And after a good session on court, what better way to relax than with a cup of tea in the kiosk or a beer in the bar.
